New Car, Relatives Want to Borrow It

So, I’ve been doing well with trading lately—well enough that in just a month, I earned enough to cover the down payment for a ₱2M SUV. I’d also been saving most of my income for over a year and a half, so I finally decided to buy a brand-new SUV to replace our old, beat-up family car.

Enter my aunt, who has always been the type to brag about her expensive branded shoes and bags (even when no one asks). Growing up, she constantly belittled me, saying I’d never amount to anything. To be fair, I wasn’t exactly a role model back then—I was the black sheep of the family, lazy and unmotivated. For example, I quit my first job just two months in because the pay didn’t feel worth the effort.

The truth is, I’ve always struggled to put in effort unless I have real motivation (money being a great motivator). That’s how I stumbled into online trading, which turned out to be a game-changer for me.

Fast forward to me buying the SUV. When my aunt found out, she asked my parents if she could borrow it. Initially, we assumed she meant our old family car, but no—she specifically wanted the brand-new one, which I hadn’t even had for a month. For context, I don’t let anyone drive it except my parents and sister. My parents told her to ask me directly since the car is under my name.

When she called, I politely told her, “Tita, puwede niyong hiramin yung luma naming sasakyan. Ginagamit ko po itong bago as my daily car.” But she kept insisting she needed the new car and wanted to borrow it for a week. So I asked her outright why it had to be my new SUV. Her reason? She wanted to “try it out,” take pictures with it, and show it off to her friends.

I couldn’t help but laugh. I hung up and texted her: “You can borrow the old family car if you want, but my car is off-limits.”

Honestly, this felt incredibly satisfying. This is the same aunt who used to make fun of me every chance she got, and now she wants something from me. It feels like a huge win.

Edit:

A lot of people have been messaging me about trading. I focus on stock options and forex, and everything I’ve learned has been from free resources online, mostly YouTube. 😊
